Lam has followed several
painters to learn Chinese and western painting since 1978. Lam has moved to
Hong Kong in 1984 and started his “Scenes Hong Kong” series. Also, he has
painted for “Tibet series” and “Lotus series”. His works have exhibited in many
places which included the China National Art Exhibition, the Contemporary Hong
Kong Art Biennial Exhibition, United Airlines and Macau Four Seasons Hotel……

Short
reflection about series of Tibet
Mr. Lam’s paintings give me a special feeling. In his painting, he likes
to use many colors on it. I have asked him in the interview. He thinks that
using colorful hue can directly and straightly express his mind. Mr. Lam has
been to Tibet for three times, it is a beautiful place. Although the average
height of Tibet is 4000 meters above sea level, Lam persists his painting. He uses
his memory and creativity to complete his art.
In the work”神聖的地方(一至八)”, it shows different scene, spring and
autumn, Day and night. Four seasons can be seen. In Hong Kong, we always in a
hurry, everywhere is tall building. But in Lam’s painting, I can feel the quiet
of Tibet. Tress and mountain, blue sky and white cloud can be found. It is difficult to find other places to demonstrate how special and “神聖” it is. This is what Lam wants to convey.
”西藏神山彩虹(一)” have a
contrast from the upper part and the bottom part, it forms a fantasy view. Mr. Lam
told me that he always see rainbow in Holy Mountain (神山). Rainbow can represents hope. When it occurs in Holy
Mountain, it seems telling us some positive message. Lam’s painting usually
mixed with creative and freedom, which can form an originality and luxuriant work.
I think it is one of his characteristic.
